Rewind – Easter 2014!

Each year, Easter gets a little more fun in our house! It’s one Holiday I strive to teach the kids the true meaning of the most. If it weren’t for Christ’s resurrection life wouldn’t be worth living and we, as people, would have no hope in this crazy life we live.

One of my favorite things about our new house is the land. We have just under 2 acres so LOTS of running room and room to hide….. Easter Eggs! With 5 kids, I swear, we bring home hundreds of eggs each year. I’m confident we’ll never have to buy eggs at the rate we’re going. We stuffed a TON of eggs and scattered them throughout the yard before sending our fab 5 out to retrieve them. I look forward to when they’re older and we can go all out using the big trees and creek we have out back to hide eggs. I’m over this “hide the eggs in plain view” stuff and am ready to get competitive ;)

Like in most homes,  it’s tradition to dye Easter Eggs. We dyed several dozen, way more than we (along with the neighbors) would ever eat, but it was fun!

Baxlyn, as always, wasted no time and had an overflowing bucket within about 70 seconds. She then proceeded to help her siblings fill their buckets! Ignore their non-matching-on-the-wrong-feet shoe wear. At home they grab what they see, put it on, and go!

Eb5

Brody, like all the years before, still is content with just a few eggs. It’s not quantity he’s worried about. He’s still happy with collecting a few eggs and then taking a seat to check out the loot that’s inside…

Eb10

Kylee also likes to check out her loot AS she hunts. One good thing about this age is they don’t quite remember things from a year ago (unless it comes to animals, of course). I still had a ton of their non-eatable goodies (think tattoos, stickers, plastic rabbits..etc.) put up in the closet from last year. I stuck those babies in eggs this year and it was as if they’d never seen them before!

This picture captures Baxlyn’s personality perfectly. She always aims to please and tries her best at EVERYTHING she does. Here she tried to give the best little pose she could while I took a picture of her with her eggs. Love this sweet girl!

MOMMY! WOOK AT THESE STICKERS!!!!” Those would be left over tattoos from last year’s VBS – saving money, folks ;)

Korbin, slightly annoyed, pauses to throw me a fake smile while opening his eggs.

Sadly, Easter Morning, my sweet boy woke up with a fever and had to stay home from church. He and Daddy met us later at Nana’s house where he laid miserably all day long :( I hate to see him not feel good but looovve the snuggles he offers!Eb9

Easter Happenings!

We colored Easter eggs this weekend with our peeps. I’ll say it gets a little bit easier and a little more fun every year!eggs6

…and waiting for the dye to do it’s job!eggs7

Those of you who have followed us for a while know we assigned the quads colors when they were born to know who was who in NICU as well as whose stuff was whose (pacifiers, car seats…etc.). To this day they LOVE “their” colors and knowing that it signifies THEIR own personal thing/item no questions, no arguments! The eggs were no exception, they were so excited to color their eggs in their own color. Below Kylee watching her egg turn a pretty pink while Baxlyn admires her purple…IMG_7388

I’m proud to say there were no major messes and only one dropped/crushed egg! The final products…eggs4eggs1eggs2eggs3

We had our annual Spring Fling with our Moms of Multiples group a few weeks ago. We rented out a local farm just for our kiddos – so fun!IMG_7358

Wasting no time, ours were the first ones to the goat pens.  Big surprise, ehh?IMG_7297IMG_7296

Kylee could have sat here all day.TOTALLY in her element!IMG_7302IMG_7276

Baxlyn and Korbin (well, kinda Korbin) wanted to take their picture with the Easter Bunny. Baxlyn loves characters and costumes. Korbin, not so much, but he always sticks beside his sister. Brody second guesses his bravery when he sees terrified Kylee shaking like a leaf in fear. He chose to play it safe and stayed far far away with Daddy. I love this picture below so much. Baxlyn striking her pose while Korbin stands a safe two feet away Winking smileIMG_7306

Next was the egg hunt. The quads pretty much stuck to their hunting history. Kylee insisted on stopping after each egg to see what was inside leaving her with a grand total of about 8 eggs by the time the hunt was over. IMG_7335 Korbin & Baxlyn were quick and efficient when collecting eggs and luckily gathered more than enough to share with their not so fast brother and sister!IMG_7333IMG_7332

Brody casually walked around and for some reason was drawn to all of the broken and empty eggs. At one point I saw him carefully picking random jelly beans out of the grass. I think he ended up with just a few less than Kylee, but he didn’t seem to mind!IMG_7331

My little chunk was just perfection that day, not a peep the entire time! Can’t wait until next year when he’s running around having fun with his brothers and sisters!IMG_7316

Our first experience with cotton candy – holy sticky galore!IMG_7314IMG_7310

Before we headed out we were the mean parents who forced all of their kids to take a photo with the Easter Bunny together. Bret propped Kylee up on his shoulders, she bawled the entire time & I snapped the pic. Needless to say, she survived Winking smileIMG_7327

Easter Festivities 2012

We had a great Easter this year with our big 3 year olds! This was the first year the quads sorrrrta kinda barely understood the meaning of Easter. We talked a lot about the Resurrection of Jesus and how he died and rose again. Of course they didn’t grasp it, but we planted a seed for sure! With as much candy, bunnies and eggs as they get we want to make sure it doesn’t over shadow the true meaning of the holiday!

As surprising as it may be, I majorly failed in the photo taking department this year. Big time. Sadly, I failed to get a picture of them together ON Easter, much less did I get one of the 6 of us…ugh. I did manage to get plenty of pics of our Easter egg dying fun a few days prior at Aunt Beth’s house. She and Nana do a great job at always making sure the kids have fun things to do around the holidays! Last year, if you remember, the boys were not feeling so great and Brody missed out on the egg coloring completely. Luckily this year they were all well and had a great time coloring their eggs.

Pinterest. The online learn-to-do-anything-on-earth website. Do you use it? I personally haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet (I hear it’s ridiculously addicting) but one of my friends told me about an idea she saw on there. Letting little ones use a whisk to hold their egg while they dip it…. GENIOUS! Seriously, how great of an idea is this and why am I JUST hearing of this?! Anyways, we gave it a whirl and it was WAYYY easier than last year. No dropped or broken eggs, no colored fingers from the dye, no swimming after eggs in the bottom of cups with a spoon…etc. The whisks allowed the quads to dip their eggs completely by themselves and mess free!

Last year Baxlyn insisted on tasting the vinegar over and over and over. This year she had a lick or two but wasn’t quite as impressed as last year!

Korbin, bless his heart, has been my smiley one lately. Fake smiles, but smiles nonetheless when the others refuse to let me get a picture…

Easter Sunday was unfortunately a cold, rainy one. They were able to have a quick egg hunt after church with their little friends but the rest of the day was spent inside. By the end of the weekend they enough candy to last a good year. Halloween’s got nothing compared to this Easter thing! We parents can control how many doors they knock on at Halloween…. it’s hard to tell your kids not to pick up eggs that are right in front of them! The few days after Easter I gave out a fair share of their candy to the neighborhood kids as long as they’d promise they’d brush their teeth ;)

We hope you guys all had a great Easter!
