Quads’ 4th Birthday Bash!

Brody, Baxlyn, Kylee & Korbin had a GREAT Birthday Party celebrating the big 4! I was afraid we wouldn’t be able to top their 2nd Birthday Party, but this one was just as fun! We have always had their parties in the Spring, closer to their “adjusted” birthday (May 6th) to avoid the germs that come along with RSV season. This year their birthday fell on a Saturday and they’ve been doing good health wise so we chose to have it on their actual birthday. We had the party at the house, which I was a bit nervous about, but it went well! We hired a  Children’s Entertainer, the same one we have seen for several years now at Bret’s work Christmas parties. We went with a generic bright colored polka dot theme that both boys and girls could enjoy and it turned out super cute and simple!

We had a little time before Mr. David showed up. The kids ran and played and ran and played. Little hyper people running everywhere, so fun! As people were arriving Baxlyn asked “why all these people coming to our new house?”. We told her to guess “for love day?” Nooo “for firefighter day?” Ummm… no Baby, for your birthday! With their birthday following Christmas & Valentines day, they were a bit confused! Another thing they didn’t quite understand was why is wasn’t Blade’s birthday too. Everyone else was turning 4, why wasn’t Blade?! So sweet.

The real fun began as soon as Mr. David walked through the door. The kids were all over him and anxious to see what all he had in store. From puppets to fun kids songs and magic, he did it all and had the kiddos laughing hysterically the entire time! If you’re local (or close to it) check him out at www.misterdavidonline.com . At any given time we had kids playing in the playroom, in Blade’s room swimming in the ball pit…etc. Kids everywhere! Here’s some of the few we could grab quickly for a picture with Mr. David!

One present that had to be opened immediately was the shaving cream and “razors” that Mamaw brought. They each took a turn shaving in front of the mirror……even the girls. Thankkksss Mamaw

Like every year, we sang Happy Birthday four separate times, and each of the birthday kids enjoyed their own personal cake! In Texas you never know what our weather will be like in the winter. On any given day during February the weather could consist of warm rays, rain, sleet or snow. Somehow we lucked out and the weather was nice which allowed most of the kids to sit out on the back deck to enjoy their pizza, fruit and cake.

Four years, I just can’t believe it. You’ve come so far, my little babies, and we are so so proud of you!

Thanks to all of our friends who came out to celebrate with us, we had a blast and hope you did too! A very special thank you to Rebecca Wright, who also happens to be the quads’ Sunday School teacher, for coming and taking pictures and leaving one less thing for me to worry about. Holiday Happenings!

We’ve been busy busy over the past week or so. 3 Christmas parties and a beautiful wedding all in one weekend – CONGRATS Holley & Scott!

Each year the company Bret works for has a huge Christmas party for all of the employee’s kids. This was our 2nd time to attend and they loved it! We arrived a bit early and while walking up to the door we heard the fire truck sirens which indicated Santa was nearing! Korbin and Baxlyn were a bit nervous but so excited at the same time. They both ran and stood on a nearby rock to try to get a higher/better look at the jolly ole’ guy as we arrived. I LOVE this picture below of Baxlyn – she could hardly contain her excitement!

As Santa got off the fire truck Korbin and B, along with other kids nearby ran out to greet him. I love how nervous Baxlyn holds on to Korbin as they go together to get a closer look.

Meanwhile, Kylee & Brody and staying clear of Santa. Brody isn’t too sure about Santa but Kylee is terrified of him…and Chuck E Cheese and the Easter Bunny and any other “live” character she comes in contact with.

While waiting in line to see Santa Kylee was able to see other kids sitting on his lap, smiling for pictures, and receiving their candy canes. Thanks to that and us constantly reassuring her he was nice she agreed to take a picture with her siblings.  I could not believe my eyes! She wouldn’t dare sit on his lap but a picture she would do and she walked away saying “I’m not scared anymore!”

“Signing” their names on the “Support Our Troops” sign. While trying to help others write their name I look over to catch Brody sniffing the life out of a sharpie “Ooohh dat smells GOOD, Mommy!” Nice.

The next morning we attended a much smaller Christmas party at Linda’s work. There were just a handful of kids, ours being the majority so when Santa arrived they got some serious one on four time with him! First thing they noticed was that Santa’s beard was about half as long as it was the night before. Santa explained to them how it got caught in the reigns the night before so he had to cut it ;) Nice cover, Santa, nice cover! They all stood and talked to Santa for quite a while. Rather than tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas, they insisted on telling him all of the bad things the others had done. Kylee: “Wast night, Bwody touched the Chwistmas Wights” Korbin: “Kylee was a bad girrl and had to go to time out!” on and on the tattling went!

Sunday afternoon, our Moms of Multiples group went to a local place called Pump It Up. It was a private party where all of our little multiple people could run, climb and jump their little hearts out! While Bret and I were running around trying to keep track of our four, another mom brought me a very scared, very upset and bawling Kylee. Apparently she laid eyes on the Santa who was there and she didn’t fall for him. Although I didn’t see him myself another mom said the dude in the costume weighed about 82lbs definitely not your everyday Santa…come on people, the kids totally notice! No Santa pics that day, needless to say!

This weekend Santa visited our local library. We left Blade home with Daddy and met our friends Anna & Levi there to see Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Sunday morning all five kiddos were a part of the church play. Blade played an excellent Baby Jesus while the quads each had a different line they were to say. Three of them ended up saying the same line, but they said it and I was proud!

Blade sat awake and content through the whole little program hiccups and all! There was a manger but he was a bit too big for it, go figure, so we laid a blanket over his carseat and it worked just fine!

I had to include this one. They called the nursery and preschool down so the bigger kids could do their presentation and afterwards, called the little ones back up to end in a song. Baxlyn was less than happy she had to leave her Daddy’s lap…hence the attitude she’s sportin’, arms crossed and everything, during the classic “We Wish You A Merry Chirstmas” Ahhh, gotta love her!

Mommy’s Impromptu Birthday Party

I celebrated my (gag) 27th birthday a few weeks ago. We spent the weekend celebrating with the family and my actual birthday fell on the following Monday. When getting the babies…ahem KIDS up in the morning I said something along the lines of “Ok, you guys need to be super sweet to me today, it’s my birthday!” Baxlyn’s lil face LIT up with excitement and said “We gone have a bird-day party!!” It was adorable and I, being the Facebook addict that I am, posted her sweet comment as my status that morning. I quickly got an overwhelming amount of comments of people encouraging me to seize the day, fly by the seat of my pants and gosh darn it – throw myself a birthday party in which the 5 of us could enjoy together!

We did just that :) I gathered a few party supplies that I had around the house and a box of brownies from the pantry and the 5 of us got to work prepping for our “big party”! This was their first baking experience at home and they were super excited!

          Like any good mother, I let them lick the batter off the spoons ;)

We waited and waited until we heard the timer go off letting us know our sweet treat was ready… I sang Happy Birthday to myself while the quads blew their horns… …and they gladly blew out my candles before we enjoyed!
