“Homemade” Pizza

I usually leave the grocery shopping up to Bret, we both prefer it that way. I suck at shopping, really I do. I can head to the grocery store to stock up on foods for the house and somehow I end up coming home with 16 frozen pizzas, a few candles & about $200 worth of the latest cleaning supplies. It had been a while since I had a solo trip with the kids so after picking up the quads from school, the 6 of us headed to good ole’ Brookshires. As if that idea wasn’t crazy in itself I decided to go all out and let them all push their own shopping carts for the first time. Go ahead and picture it in your head… FUN!

Our trip went well and the quad-lovin employees welcomed us and watched our shopping adventure with smiles. I stuck to our list and we got most of what we went for. We picked up everything we needed to make homemade pizza. I use the term “Homemade” loosely. Growing up my dad made homemade pizza on a regular basis. He made the dough from scratch, seasoned his sauce to perfection and was sure to use the best of toppings. Those of you who know me personally, KNOW I don’t cook.  I can make your house SPARKLE, but I am no cook. Bret does most of the cooking and I think that’s yet another thing we both prefer ;) Some pre packaged dough that you pop open and roll onto the pan, a can of sauce, some shredded cheese and pepperoni tossed in the oven IS about as homemade as I’m gonna get on any given afternoon with 5 kiddos.

We flattened out our dough and took turns with the rest of the jobs…

Baxlyn, the one who I thought was least likely to spill the sauce, spilled the sauce onto the counter I mean, poured the sauce into the bowl!

Brody had a great time mixing!

We ended up preparing to make 2 pizzas. The directions on the “easy” premade dough was to preheat the oven and start off by cooking the dough for 8 minutes before adding any toppings. Here is Baxlyn and Korbin waiting patiently for the timer to go off. Although it looks like a clear shot of his butt crack, I assure you those are Korbin’s heels sticking out of his black socks ;)

They take turns spreading the sauce on our prebaked dough…

…and then all help sprinkle the cheese and pepperonis on top.

We move on to tackle our 2nd pizza and I notice the edges are a little tough. I pick it up only to find – SURE ENOUGH I burned it! We didn’t even make it past the 8 minute prebake before somehow screwing up. I told ya, I’m no cook.

Luckily we had extra dough in the fridge and was able to give the second pizza a second shot. We covered it in toppings and snacked on the extra pepperonis and pizza sauce the entire time both pizzas baked in the oven – another thing my dad taught me!

Our final product!

Although they were delicious, this is all we ate between the 5 of us. Normally, the quads can finish off an entire pizza by themselves but thanks to Mom’s brilliant idea to snack while they bake, our tummies couldn’t quite handle it!

A few random pics to hold you over...

Rather than leave you with nothing while on vacation, I thought I'd share a few random pictures taken over the past few months. Some may be repeats for all my facebook peeps!

Taking a stroll on a sunny day!

Just this past week, Korbin learned how to climb fell out of his crib. Unlike Baxlyn, when I found him he wasn't beaming with pride. From the look of his right eye it was a tough landing. Needless to say, he hasn't tried it since...

Splish Splash!
Their first swim of the summer!

Kylee LOVES accessories!

The coolest quad on the block, Baxlyn.

This is what happens when a triplet mom and a quad mom go to a children's museum that has the smallest elevator in the world.... babies go down on one trip and the choo choos on the next! Yeah...that didn't cause a scene.

The boys have had many many haircuts and this was Brody's first time to be brave and sit in the chair all by himself! (The lump you see under his cape is, of course, Dudu!)

How sweet is this? 2 brothers and their rolly polly!

Water sprinkler or a quad-friendly water fountain?

Four wheeler fun at Pa-paws! Kylee wanted NOTHING to do with it, poor girl!

Lil' explorers...

It's nice to see a little love among all the fighting these days :]

Working together for a GOOD cause, doesn't happen often!

We took the quads to one of my dad's softball games a couple of weeks ago. I grew up on the ball fields watching him play and it was about time my kids experienced it too! Love this one of Brody & Kylee watching him bat - Go Papa!

After the game we let them out on the field. Rather than roam what do they decide to do?? Clean. Yup, four 2 year olds on a ball field and they chose to clean. Below is Baxlyn using her foot to smear away the "yucky" lines someone put there...

While she's doing that we look over and notice Korbin is trying desperately to sweep the dirt out of the dugout with his lil' hands...

Before we knew it they were all in the dugout picking up and throwing away cups and trash the players had left behind...

This picture is SO Baxlyn, trying to juggle as many cups as she possible can!

Kylee with the Tew boys at the zoo. She talks constantly about Emmett. From the looks of this picture he's got a lil' crush on her too! Looks like he's saying "Back off Bro, this one's mine!" Lunch with their BFF, Levi James.

I'll leave you with one of the latest. This was a trip to Walmart. We passed through this section and in an instant I had a stroller full of toddlers yelling "Hats! Hats! Haaatttsss!!!" No sweeties, those are not hats!

Until next time!!

Our December In Pictures

No lockdown = a busy December! I thought I'd do one lengthy blog on our December so far!
We've all been shopping...

even outside in the warm Texas winter...

We went to the Moms Of Multiples Christmas party...

where the clown lady made us balloons...

and we took our quad-friend JuJu on a choo choo ride!

Baxlyn grew pigtails!

We've been looking at Christmas lights with Levi...

Babies R Us hooked us up with gingerbread cookies and icing while we waited for Santa...
when he finally came Brody and Kylee (again) tried to run for their lives.

One of the best parts about our December has been our trips to the mailbox each day and finding cards from our quad friends across the country. We read each letter... and study each and every picture...
in hopes that we all get to play together one day!
Our therapists threw one heck of a Christmas party where we met another Santa...

sat like big kids...
decorated cookies...
and stole some while others weren't looking!

7 highchairs, a booster and two Mommy seats please! We had a great play date at Going Bonkers with some other multiples and then had an out to eat lunch with our triplet friends and their Big Brother!

Then today we played outside on the 1st official day of winter... in the 80 degree Texas heat!

So so busy and so so fun! Can't wait to celebrate the birth of Jesus this weekend and to end one of the best Decembers of all!
